Check children in and out

The classroom roster is where most of a shift happens. Reach it from Check In or View All on the Home tab.

Every child shows a badge: Expected, Checked In or Checked Out. The list is ordered expected first, then checked in, then checked out.

Screenshot pending: staff.classroom.rosterA classroom roster listing children with Expected and Checked In badges and a Check In button on each row.

Tap Check In on their row. It applies immediately — there is no confirmation step, so tap deliberately.

  1. Tap Check Out on their row.
  2. The Check Out sheet asks Who is picking up {child}? and lists the adults authorised to collect that child, with their relationship.
  3. Tap the adult who is collecting.

Choose the person in front of you. The name you tap is stored on the attendance record and is what the family and your facility see afterwards.

If no authorised adults are listed for that child, the sheet offers Check out now instead. Use it only when you have confirmed the collection another way, and tell your admin to add authorised pickups to the child’s record.

Tap the time shown on a checked-in or checked-out row — the little pencil next to it opens Edit Times.

  1. Change Drop-off (HH:MM), Pick-up (HH:MM) or both, in 24-hour format.
  2. Tap Save.

Log the same activity for several children

Section titled “Log the same activity for several children”

The + button at the bottom right appears once at least one child is checked in. It logs one activity against many children at once.

  1. Tap + and choose Meal, Sleep, Bathroom or Temperature.
  2. Under Who?, choose All Present or Select Children and tick the children.
  3. Fill in what the type asks for:
    • Meal — a meal type. Required.
    • Sleep — a duration. Defaults to 30 minutes.
    • Temperature — a reading, in °F or °C. Required.
    • Bathroom — nothing more.
  4. Add Notes (optional) if there is anything a parent should know.
  5. Tap the button at the bottom — Log Meal, Log Sleep, Log Bathroom or Log Temperature.

You get Activity logged for N children on success. These entries appear in the family’s app, so write notes the way you would say them to a parent at the door.

If the button will not respond, a required field is empty — a meal type or a temperature reading.

Check In does nothing for a child. They need a classroom assigned. That is set in the web app.

A child is missing from the roster. They are not enrolled for today. Check their schedule in the web app.

You checked out the wrong child. Tap the time on their row and correct it with Edit Times, then tell your admin so the pickup record can be corrected too — the app cannot undo a check-out.
