Age groups

Age groups organize children by age and carry your staffing ratios. Find them under Classrooms → Age Groups.

Add an age group

Select Add Age Group and fill in:

• Group Name — required, for example Infants
• Start Age (months) and End Age (months) — required
• Max Group Size — optional
• Staff:Child Ratio — optional, written as 1:4
• Ratio Limitations / Notes — optional, for the wording of your local rule
• Tuition Plan (optional) — an active plan to associate with the group
• Default age group — the one used when nothing else applies

Ages are in months throughout, so a five-year-old boundary is 60.

Where they are used

• Classrooms can be organized by age group, and the classroom detail screen reports capacity and enrollment per group.
• Tuition plans can be restricted to an age group.
• Curriculum themes are written for an age group: Infant (0-18mo), Toddler (18-36mo), Preschool (3-5yr) and School Age (5+yr).

Get the ratios from your regulator

The Staff:Child Ratio and Max Group Size here are your own record of what you must meet — nothing in the app enforces them or checks them against your license. Take the numbers from your state or local licensing requirement, and use Ratio Limitations / Notes for any condition attached to them, such as a different ratio during nap or outdoors.

The ratio figure shown on a classroom screen is calculated from the staff assigned to that room and the children present. It is a guide for you, not a compliance check.

Deleting one

Delete Age Group cannot be undone. Check no classroom or tuition plan depends on it first.
