ECERS

Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale

ECERS is a standardised observation tool used to assess the quality of preschool classrooms serving children roughly aged three to five. An assessor scores the room across areas including space, routines, language, activities, interaction, and program structure.

Scores frequently feed a state QRIS rating, so an ECERS observation can carry funding consequences.

Because scoring is observational, documented daily practice and visible materials matter as much as written policy.
